Shazam, the mobile music recognition company, today announced that it has signed a deal with Key Production Ltd, the leading broker for the UK music industry, manufacturing for companies of all sizes from an individual's first release to chart topping albums. Artists and labels that work with Key Production are able to have their music on Shazam for free. This deal allows mobile consumers using Shazam's 1.6 million-song database to tag an even more extensive selection of music. In turn, Key Production is able to provide a promotional element to its customers, a unique offering in the industry.
Shazam has also signed deals with the Association of Independent Music (AIM) and
Warner Music Group to acquire the necessary copyright licences to allow Shazam to use 30-second clips of music.

When users hear a song they like they simply dial Shazam's four-digit number, 2580, from their mobile, point their mobile towards the music, Shazam cuts the call after thirty seconds, and immediately they learn the name of the song and the artist via text message.
