Former marketing director at Capital Radio and IPC ignite! Vijay Solanki is joining start-up company Shazam Entertainment as its marketing director.

Shazam has developed new technology that allows consumers to recognise songs from any environment using their mobile phone.

By calling Shazam and allowing the music to play down the phone line, the company will send a text message telling the consumer the title and artist.

Users will then be able to access their list of songs from the Shazam website.

In his new role, Solanki will be responsible for developing a marketing strategy, including research, brand development and marketing communications.

Reporting to CEO Chris Barton, he will also identify key agencies as well as potential marketing partners such as radio stations and mobile phone companies
