This week's Featured Tag Chart Track
Sean Paul "Get Busy" (Atlantic) - release date: 12 May 03
All reggae dancehall lovers who were afraid to ask for the right record for a party, listen up!!! The infectious sounds of Sean Paul have filtered out from his native Jamaica, where this young star is a major music force, and are making airwaves sizzle on both sides of the Atlantic. The son of two of Jamaica's noted athletes, 28 year old Sean draws on the influences of such dancehall masters as Major Worries and Supercat, concerning himself with "kicking up the bass and burnin up the place." Seven years prior to his current worldwide success, Sean Paul made his first impression on the vibrant dancehall scene with "Baby Girl", the first of his grinding mixture of hip-hop tinged pop flavoured reggae singles. New York reggae label VP Recordings were responsible for the massive orth American Urban club & radio support that Sean Paul's debut album "Stage One" received, and it wasn't long before Paul's slightly less comical vibes were outshining fellow carribean star, Shaggy, in the UK. "Get Busy" is the second UK single to be taken from the accessible, Neptune's-slick album "Dutty Rock", but it's foreboding chords and sultry vocals has definitely cemented Sean Paul's place as the current dancehall favourite with the ladeees.
